Gold price spikes in Pakistan

Gold prices in Pakistan recorded a sharp jump on Thursday, with the per tola rate rising by Rs9,600 to reach Rs435,636. The move marked another day of strong gains for the precious metal in the local market and pushed prices to a new level in rupee terms.

Alongside the per tola increase, the price of 10-gram gold climbed by Rs8,230 to Rs373,487. These latest rates were shared in the domestic bullion market and reflect the rapid repricing of gold in Pakistan during the session.

Two-day rally in local bullion market

Thursday’s gains followed a substantial increase in the previous session. On Wednesday, gold prices in Pakistan had risen by Rs13,900 per tola to reach Rs426,036. Taken together, the back-to-back rises lifted gold prices by Rs23,500 per tola over two days.

The cumulative move over this short period highlights the intensity of the current rally in the local bullion market. With the latest increase, the rupee value of gold in Pakistan has accelerated in step with the broader strength seen in global prices.

International gold drives domestic gains

The jump in Pakistan’s gold prices coincided with a strong advance in international bullion markets. International gold prices rose by $96 to reach $4,131 per ounce. This gain in the global benchmark was a key driver of the parallel move in local rates.

The increase in the international price underscores the external momentum behind the domestic rally. As global bullion became more expensive in US dollar terms, local quotations in Pakistan adjusted upward, contributing to the sizeable rise in rupee-denominated prices for both per tola and 10-gram benchmarks.

Silver and other precious metals moves

Alongside the surge in gold, silver prices (XAGUSD) in Pakistan also moved higher. Silver rose by Rs100 per tola to Rs5,763.

The concurrent increases in gold and silver underline a broader uplift in precious metal prices. With both domestic and international benchmarks for gold advancing, and silver also registering gains, Pakistan’s bullion market ended the session at significantly higher levels than earlier in the week.

Key Takeaways

  • 01Gold prices in Pakistan have moved sharply higher in a short span, with a two-day gain of Rs23,500 per tola underscoring strong bullish momentum.
  • 02Domestic bullion rates are closely tracking international movements, as shown by the Rs9,600 per tola jump that accompanied a $96 rise in global gold prices.
  • 03Both gold and silver (XAGUSD) advanced in Pakistan, signalling a wider upward shift in precious metals rather than an isolated move in a single asset.
