JetBlue opens new Fort Lauderdale–Midwest routes

JetBlue Airways (JBLU) has launched daily nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and both Indianapolis International Airport and John Glenn Columbus International Airport, expanding its network into the U.S. Midwest. The flights, which began on November 2, 2026, introduce JetBlue to Indianapolis for the first time and mark the airline’s return to Columbus.

Both new routes are operated with Airbus (AIRp) A320 aircraft and are designed to offer direct connectivity between South Florida and the two Midwestern cities. The additions extend JetBlue’s Fort Lauderdale footprint as the carrier develops the airport into a major leisure and connecting hub.

Flight schedules and onboard offering

Departures from Fort Lauderdale to Indianapolis are at 7:00 PM, arriving at 9:39 PM, with return flights from Indianapolis departing at 6:00 AM. The Columbus service follows a similar pattern, with evening departures from Fort Lauderdale at 7:00 PM and morning returns at 6:00 AM.

Passengers on these flights receive complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, seatback entertainment with live television, and snacks and drinks. Customers booking the EvenMore option gain additional benefits, including extra legroom and early boarding.

Fort Lauderdale growth and winter schedule

With the Indianapolis and Columbus additions, JetBlue expects to operate more than 150 daily departures to 61 nonstop destinations from Fort Lauderdale this winter. This will represent the airline’s largest schedule ever at the airport, underscoring Fort Lauderdale’s role as a central point in JetBlue’s route map.

The expanded schedule provides more options for travelers moving between South Florida and a broad range of U.S. destinations, including new access for customers in Indianapolis and Columbus seeking nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale.

Promotional fares and JetForward strategy

To support the launch, JetBlue is offering introductory one-way fares starting at $59 for Main cabin and $138 for EvenMore on the new routes. These promotional fares require booking by Tuesday and apply to travel between January 6, 2027 and March 10, 2027 for Indianapolis, and through March 17, 2027 for Columbus, excluding Friday and Saturday travel and certain blackout dates in mid-January and mid-February.

The new Fort Lauderdale–Indianapolis and Fort Lauderdale–Columbus services are part of JetBlue’s JetForward strategy, which focuses on developing an East Coast leisure network. Throughout 2026, the airline has been adding destinations from Fort Lauderdale, and the latest routes further extend that growth into additional Midwestern markets.

Key Takeaways

  • 01JetBlue is using Fort Lauderdale as a central hub, with the new Indianapolis and Columbus routes contributing to its largest-ever schedule at the airport.
  • 02The carrier is pairing network expansion with time-limited promotional pricing, aiming to stimulate demand on the new Midwest links.
  • 03The launch aligns with JetBlue’s JetForward strategy, emphasizing East Coast leisure connectivity and increased nonstop options from Fort Lauderdale.
