  • 02Full-year 2026 guidance raised to about $2.55 billion adjusted EBITDA
  • 03CFO Mark Kempa to depart; Meghan Montana named CFO from Jan 2027

Q3 earnings beat underpins higher 2026 outlook

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH) Holdings reported strong third quarter 2026 results that exceeded its own earnings expectations and supported an upgrade to full-year guidance. Third quarter revenue reached US$2,946.76 million, with net income of US$491.47 million and basic earnings per share of US$1.07 from continuing operations. Adjusted earnings for the quarter came to US$1.12 per share, ahead of prior company guidance of US$0.90. Management cited stronger late bookings and higher onboard passenger spending as key drivers of the outperformance.

For the first nine months of 2026, revenue totaled US$7,918.53 million and net income was US$818.68 million, resulting in basic EPS of US$1.79. The earnings strength prompted the company to raise its full-year 2026 forecast to about US$2.55 billion in adjusted EBITDA and about US$1.70 in adjusted earnings per share. Adjusted EBITDA for the third quarter alone was US$937 million, US$63 million above what the company had projected in July.

Upgraded guidance and operating assumptions

The improved 2026 outlook reflects both revenue momentum and identified cost savings. The company stated it has found about US$100 million in annual savings, including from changes to guest and crew air travel and promotions. Management also provided updated operating assumptions, including expected 2026 occupancy of about 103.2% on 26.18 million capacity days.

Stronger late bookings and higher onboard spending were highlighted as important contributors to the raised guidance. The company indicated that upcoming booking trends and pricing on later sailings will be key in determining whether it can meet or exceed the new occupancy and profitability targets while managing leverage and interest expense.

CFO transition and leadership changes

Alongside the guidance increase, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings announced a planned change in its finance leadership. Longtime Chief Financial Officer Mark Kempa is leaving the company. Meghan Montana, currently Chief Strategy Officer, has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer effective January 2027, marking a scheduled transition in the finance role.

The move positions Montana to link the finance function with ongoing revenue management initiatives, fleet renewal plans and selling, general and administrative cost programs that are in focus for the company. The combination of a leadership change in the CFO role and upgraded guidance underscores management’s focus on execution against its 2026 financial and strategic objectives.

Pricing trends and fleet actions into 2027

Looking beyond 2026, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings noted that its prices for 2027 sailings are running ahead of where they were at this point last year. This pricing backdrop accompanies fleet changes that include the introduction of the Norwegian Aura, scheduled to begin sailing in May 2027 on a seven-day Mediterranean itinerary from Trieste, Italy before moving to Miami in June 2027.

On the fleet disposition side, the company has completed the sale of Oceania Sirena, which will continue to operate under a charter through spring 2028, and agreed to sell Oceania Insignia, with delivery to the buyer expected in September 2027. These steps align its fleet with forward deployment and pricing plans while management tracks performance against the updated 2026 guidance.

Key Takeaways

  • 01Stronger-than-expected Q3 performance allowed Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH) to increase its 2026 adjusted EBITDA and EPS targets while confirming high planned occupancy.
  • 02The company is combining upgraded financial guidance with a planned CFO transition, moving Chief Strategy Officer Meghan Montana into the finance role in early 2027.
  • 03Cost savings initiatives and firm 2027 pricing, alongside selective fleet additions and disposals, frame management’s path to delivering on the enhanced 2026 outlook.
