Norfolk Southern beat expectations on both the top and bottom line in the second fiscal quarter of 2026, reporting on July 23, with EPS of $3.52 topping the $3.32 estimate by about 6% and revenue of about $3.5 billion edging the $3.38 billion consensus by 3.6%. Revenue rose 11.4% from a year earlier to about $3.5 billion, while EPS increased 7.0% from $3.29 a year ago; gross margin came in near 67% and operating margin around 32% as operating income reached about $1.1 billion. Net income slipped 4.4% to about $734 million from $768 million a year ago, and operating cash flow was $344 million. The company also repurchased about $5 million of stock and paid $303 million in dividends. Consensus for the next period calls for EPS of $3.49 on revenue of $3.41 billion.
