Uber to buy Getir Turkey assets for $335m

Uber Technologies and Mubadala Investment Company have agreed terms for Uber to acquire Getir’s delivery portfolio in Türkiye, marking a significant expansion of Uber’s presence in the country’s on-demand delivery market. Under the agreement, Uber will first purchase 100% of Getir’s food delivery business in Türkiye for $335m in cash, on a cash‑free and debt‑free basis.

Alongside the food delivery acquisition, Uber will invest a further $100m for a 15% equity stake in Getir’s remaining Turkish grocery, retail and water delivery operations. These assets are expected to be acquired over the coming years, subject to the achievement of specific operating and financial performance targets.

Completion of the food delivery transaction is targeted for the second half of 2026. The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, and Uber has not disclosed additional financial terms beyond the agreed headline amounts.

If the transaction closes as planned, Uber would assume ownership of both Getir’s and Trendyol Go’s delivery operations in Türkiye. In May 2025, Uber agreed to acquire a majority stake in Turkish food delivery platform Trendyol Go in a separate $700m deal, which positioned the US group to build a broader delivery network in the country.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi framed the latest agreement as part of a long‑term commitment to Türkiye, citing the country’s “thriving digital economy and a dynamic consumer base”. He said Uber aims to support the growth of a “vibrant and competitive ecosystem” that delivers additional value for consumers, couriers and merchants.

According to the companies, the structure of the new deal is designed to strengthen Uber’s existing investment in Türkiye by adding Getir’s ultrafast delivery expertise and nationwide presence to Uber’s global platform.

After closing, Uber plans to bring together the Getir and Trendyol Go platforms while maintaining separate consumer‑facing brands. Getir users will continue to access services through the Getir Super App but will gain access to a wider range of restaurants currently available via Trendyol Go.

Conversely, Trendyol Go users would be able to order groceries from Getir through the Trendyol Go app, extending the variety of quick‑commerce options available in a single interface. Uber said the combined operations are expected to widen consumer choice, create more delivery work for couriers, and provide additional support to restaurants and retailers using both platforms.

Getir CEO Batuhan Gultakan described the agreement as a “significant milestone” for the company and a next stage in its development. He said the deal reflects confidence in Getir’s operating model and brand in its home market, and highlighted plans to contribute its ultrafast delivery capabilities to Uber’s wider ecosystem.
