Google launches AI-focused Pixel 11 lineup

Google introduced its latest Pixel hardware lineup on August 12, 2026, revealing four new smartphones: the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The devices were presented alongside a Pixel Watch 5 and new earbuds, underscoring a broader ecosystem push around Google-branded hardware.

U.S. customers can begin ordering the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL immediately, with starting prices of $900, $1,100 and $1,300 respectively. The Pixel Pro Fold sits at the top of the range with a starting price of $1,900. These launch prices represent roughly a $100 increase for each phone compared with last year’s models.

Beyond the higher prices, Google made notable changes to storage and power. The new Pixel phones now start at 256 gigabytes of storage, which the company said doubles the previous base capacity. The 128 GB configuration, previously the lowest-priced option, has been removed from the lineup.

Google also highlighted battery and charging updates, stating that the new phones are designed for about 30 hours of battery life and support faster wireless charging. The hardware design incorporates slimmer camera modules, while still supporting an enhanced zoom system compared with prior generations.

Artificial intelligence capabilities are central to the Pixel 11 pitch. Google emphasized new software tools meant to reduce the number of taps and swipes needed to complete everyday tasks and to encourage users to upgrade. The company stated it hopes deeper AI integration in the Pixel 11 lineup will increase use of its AI tools across the ecosystem.

The camera system gains several AI-assisted upgrades. A feature called Magic Capture automatically records a series of photos and video with a single shutter tap, while improved light sensitivity is designed to enhance image quality. Pro models add Instant Night Sight for low-light photography, building on the Pixel line’s emphasis on computational imaging.

The software suite also expands to communications and content creation. New live translation supports videos, podcasts and voice messages, aiming to make media more accessible across languages. Tools to extract photos from videos, improved video stabilization and a built-in teleprompter are included to help users capture and present content more easily.

Google upgraded its speech-to-text feature for more accurate transcription in supported scenarios. On the Pro models, a HiLight tool allows users to assign a color to favorite contacts so the phone lights up in that color when a call comes in and the device is placed face down, adding a visual notification option linked to key contacts.

To reinforce the AI focus, buyers of the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL receive a free six-month subscription to Google’s AI Pro plan. This offer is positioned as an incentive for customers to try more advanced AI capabilities and stay engaged with the company’s services over time.

Executives framed the Pixel 11 launch as a step toward making AI a primary reason to upgrade smartphones, not just camera or display improvements. By combining higher-end hardware, expanded storage, and a bundle of AI-driven features and services, Google is seeking to differentiate the Pixel 11 family in a competitive premium phone market.
