Modern AI startup office with digital screens illustrating major funding round for video expansion

Key Points

  • 01Kling AI secures an initial $2 billion in new venture funding
  • 02Total fundraising could reach about $3 billion with more investors
  • 03Pre-deal valuation for Kling AI stands at $15 billion
  • 04Revenue and ARR surge, boosted by launch of Kling 3.0

Kling AI secures multi-billion funding round

Kling AI has raised an initial $2 billion in venture capital as it expands its video artificial-intelligence operations after being spun out from Kuaishou Technology (1024.HK). The company is generating growing interest from investors as it seeks to scale its technology and commercial offerings in AI-generated video.

The current round could increase to about $3 billion if further investors join. As the financing progresses, Kuaishou’s ownership stake in Kling AI could fall to about 68%, reflecting the dilution from bringing in new capital providers.

Valuation and business scale

Prior to the latest funding deal, Kling AI was valued at $15 billion. The new capital is being raised against this backdrop of rapid growth and a sizeable existing revenue base for a relatively young AI video platform.

Kling AI generates videos and short films from user prompts, positioning itself in the emerging market for high-quality, AI-created visual content. Its tools are used by professional filmmakers, advertisers and creative studios that require customized clips.

Rapid revenue growth and Kling 3.0

Kling AI’s commercial metrics have accelerated sharply in recent months. Annual recurring revenue reached about $500 million in March, up from $300 million in January, highlighting strong demand for its services.

The launch of Kling 3.0 has been a key driver of this growth, contributing to a significant increase in usage and monetization. In the first quarter, Kling AI generated more than 650 million yuan in revenue, equivalent to about $96.2 million, representing an increase of more than 300% compared with the same period a year earlier.

Competitive landscape in AI video

Kling AI operates in a competitive field of AI-driven video tools that target professional users. Its main rivals include ByteDance’s Seedance and smaller startups such as Shengshu, which also focus on producing high-quality clips for commercial and creative applications.

Within this market, Kling AI is aiming to use its new funding to strengthen its position as a scaled video-AI provider. The combination of a multi-billion-dollar capital injection, a $15 billion pre-deal valuation and rapidly rising recurring revenue underscores the company’s growing role in the AI video industry.

Key Takeaways

  • 01Kling AI’s initial $2 billion funding round, with potential to grow, signals strong capital support for scaling its AI video platform.
  • 02A $15 billion pre-deal valuation and rising ARR indicate Kling AI has already reached substantial commercial scale despite its recent spinout.
  • 03Revenue growth exceeding 300% year-on-year, aided by Kling 3.0, shows rapid adoption of AI video tools among professional users.
  • 04Competition from Seedance and other startups suggests the AI video segment is becoming a defined, contested market rather than a niche technology experiment.
