Opendoor adds Mike Alfred to its board

Opendoor Technologies Inc. has appointed Mike Alfred as a member of its board of directors, effective immediately. The company announced the move from San Francisco, stating that Alfred will join the board with full responsibilities from the date of the announcement.

In addition to his role on the board, Alfred will serve on Opendoor’s Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. This committee oversees board composition and corporate governance practices, placing Alfred directly into a role focused on leadership structure and oversight.

Alfred is the founder and managing partner of Alpine Fox LP, which is a shareholder of Opendoor. His dual position as an investor and board member links Opendoor’s governance with a stakeholder that already has exposure to the company’s performance.

Alfred currently serves on the board of IREN Limited, a developer of artificial intelligence data centers and Bitcoin (BTCUSD) mining operations, where he has been a director since 2021. He also sits on the board of Bakkt Holdings, Inc., a company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, a role he has held since 2025.

His background includes co-founding and serving as chief executive officer of Digital Assets Data, Inc., a financial technology and data firm, until its acquisition by New York Digital Investment Group in 2020. From 2008 to 2016 he co-founded and led BrightScope, Inc., a financial information company that was later acquired by Strategic Insight, Inc., after which he became a managing director and member of Strategic Insight’s executive committee.

Kaz Nejatian, Opendoor’s chief executive officer and president, described Alfred as an entrepreneur who has founded and scaled technology companies. Nejatian also highlighted Alfred’s years of experience as an investor focused on how companies create long-term value.

Beyond his public company board positions, Alfred advises the chief executive officer of Amenify Corporation. He also serves on the boards of private companies Eaglebrook Advisors and Wealthie Inc., extending his involvement across fintech and investment-focused businesses.

Alfred holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Stanford University. His academic background complements a career spent primarily in financial information, data, and technology-oriented firms.

Opendoor operates an e-commerce platform for residential real estate. The company has been active in markets across the United States since 2014, using its platform to facilitate transactions in the housing market.
