Eco-friendly jewelry factory in Vietnam using recycled precious metals and renewable energy power

Key Points

  • 01Pandora has launched a $150 million factory in Ho Chi Minh City
  • 02The LEED Gold facility runs fully on renewable electricity
  • 03The plant will use only recycled silver and gold in production
  • 04New site lifts Pandora’s capacity by about 50% and adds 7,000 jobs

Pandora launches large-scale Vietnam facility

Pandora has opened a $150 million jewellery manufacturing facility in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The company describes the new site as the world’s largest fine-jewellery crafting facility, marking a significant expansion of its global production network. Built on roughly 7.5 hectares, the factory is Pandora’s first production site outside Thailand and its fourth manufacturing facility worldwide.

The Vietnam plant is designed to substantially boost output. Once fully up and running, it will be capable of producing up to 60 million pieces of jewellery annually. Pandora expects the added capacity to increase the company’s overall manufacturing capability by around 50%, supporting future growth in its global jewellery sales.

Capacity expansion and employment impact

The Ho Chi Minh City facility is expected to become a major employment hub for Pandora. The company plans for the plant to employ about 7,000 workers once it reaches full operations. By locating production in Vietnam, Pandora is diversifying its manufacturing footprint while significantly scaling its ability to meet demand.

With projected annual output of up to 60 million pieces, the Vietnam site plays a central role in the company’s strategy to increase global supply. The approximately 50% uplift in total manufacturing capacity positions Pandora to handle higher order volumes while distributing production across multiple countries.

Renewable energy and green building standards

Environmental considerations are a core element of the new factory’s design and operation. The Ho Chi Minh City site is powered entirely by renewable electricity. Pandora plans to install rooftop solar systems and work with local solar farms to provide the energy required for production at the facility.

The plant has achieved LEED Gold certification, reflecting its adherence to recognized green building standards. The combination of energy-efficient construction and exclusive use of renewable power is intended to lower the carbon intensity of Pandora’s manufacturing activities at the Vietnam site.

Use of recycled precious metals

Pandora will use only recycled silver and gold at the Ho Chi Minh City factory. The commitment to 100% recycled precious metals at this location aligns the facility’s material sourcing with its environmental objectives. By restricting inputs to recycled silver and gold, the plant aims to reduce the environmental impact associated with mining newly sourced metals.

Taken together, the renewable-energy supply, LEED Gold status and exclusive use of recycled precious metals position the Vietnam facility as a key component of Pandora’s efforts to expand production capacity while limiting its environmental footprint.

Key Takeaways

  • 01Pandora’s Vietnam plant is central to a major scale-up in production, lifting overall capacity by about half while diversifying beyond its long-standing base in Thailand.
  • 02The factory’s design integrates renewable energy, green building certification and recycled metals, making environmental performance a defining feature of the expansion.
  • 03By combining large-scale output potential with an expected 7,000-strong workforce, the site is set to become both a critical manufacturing hub and a significant local employer.
