John Deere, Tarter in U.S. equipment pact

John Deere (DE) and Tarter USA have entered a strategic manufacturing partnership to develop and produce a new line of American-made Flex Wing Rotary Cutters under the Frontier brand. The agreement combines John Deere’s customer and product expertise with Tarter’s manufacturing capabilities to target modern agricultural operators.

Announced from Liberty, Kentucky, the partnership centers on building rotary cutters designed to meet performance, durability, and reliability expectations in key agricultural markets while reinforcing both companies’ stated focus on U.S. manufacturing.

The new Flex Wing Rotary Cutter range is available in 10-foot and 12-foot cutting widths. The lineup is positioned for use across core agricultural applications where wide-cut equipment is required to manage vegetation and field conditions.

According to the companies, early market response has significantly outpaced expectations. Dealer feedback has been highly favorable, with initial orders surpassing first-year volume forecasts, indicating strong demand across important agricultural regions.

Manufacturing for the new product line is based at Tarter USA’s advanced production facility in Liberty, Kentucky. The facility uses precision laser cutting, robotic fabrication, and a mix of integrated robotic and manual welding systems.

These capabilities are supported by continued investment in automation and advanced technologies since 2015. The companies state that this manufacturing environment is intended to deliver consistent quality, efficiency, and scalability for the Frontier rotary cutter program.

Product performance and durability have been validated through extensive real-world field testing, supported by laboratory simulations designed to replicate long-term operating conditions. This approach aims to confirm the cutters’ ability to withstand demanding use.

The program highlights cross-functional collaboration between John Deere and Tarter teams in engineering, quality, operations, and commercial roles.
