Key Points

  • 01CoreWeave (CRWV) is forecast to grow Q3 2026 revenue 168% to $3.66 billion
  • 02Total active power capacity is expected to reach 1.7 GW in Q3 2026
  • 03Remaining performance obligations stand at about $129 billion
  • 04Analysts see large upside vs. a 52-week low stock price of $57.21

Capacity expansion underpins CoreWeave’s growth outlook

CoreWeave (CRWV) is projected to deliver another quarter of rapid growth in the third quarter of 2026 as new data centre capacity comes online. Bank of America forecasts third-quarter revenue of $3.66 billion, a 168% year-over-year increase, with an operating margin of 6.7%. Analysts expect the AI cloud infrastructure provider to bring an additional 200 megawatts of capacity online in the period, after deploying 500 megawatts in the second quarter, which would lift total active power capacity to 1.7 gigawatts.

Bank of America expects CoreWeave to add between 1.4 gigawatts and 1.5 gigawatts of capacity annually over the next three years. Bank of America forecasts revenue growth of 152% in fiscal 2026 and 105% in 2027, and 63% in 2028.

Large backlog and funding requirements

CoreWeave’s remaining performance obligations stood at about $129 billion as of early third quarter 2026, representing contracted revenue yet to be recognized. This backlog highlights the scale of committed demand that supports the company’s growth outlook. At the same time, meeting these obligations is expected to require substantial investment in infrastructure and financing.

Bank of America estimates that CoreWeave will need about $20 billion in additional funding to fulfil its remaining performance obligations. Bank of America: capital expenditure for the third quarter of 2026 is forecast at $12.5 billion, an increase of 558% from a year earlier.

Analyst ratings and market sentiment

Ahead of CoreWeave’s third-quarter fiscal 2026 earnings report, BofA Securities has maintained a Buy rating and a $140 price target on the stock. Liani set the $140 target on Oct. 22, implying about 126.5% upside from prevailing levels at that time.

Cantor Fitzgerald has reiterated an Overweight rating on CoreWeave with a $176 price target, emphasizing strong customer demand for compute resources. Despite these positive analyst views, CoreWeave’s stock has fallen to a 52-week low of $57.21, as investors weigh the company’s debt and funding needs. Activity in credit default swaps within the AI sector, including CoreWeave, has increased, reflecting investor caution amid rising debt costs even as demand indicators remain robust.

Key Takeaways

  • 01CoreWeave (CRWV)’s growth strategy is heavily dependent on rapid capacity expansion, with gigawatt-scale additions planned over several years.
  • 02A $129 billion backlog supports long-term revenue visibility, but also drives a need for about $20 billion in extra funding.
  • 03Analysts remain positive with high price targets despite a 52-week low share price and heightened credit market concerns.
