Episodes in 1994-95, 2004-06 and 2015-18 show equities absorbing initial volatility before trending higher once confidence in inflation control and continued growth firmed.

At the same time, history shows that equity reactions to rate hikes remain highly context dependent, with aggressive or surprise tightening during weakening growth phases associated with more negative market performance.
